Super Bonk (1994)

Super Bonk, the first Bonk game for the SNES, seems like a direct sequel to the third PC-Engine Bonk game. That one introduced many new elements, like changing size, tubes for speedy transport, an oversized level architecture and so on, but never seemed to know what to do with all these new elements. Super Bonk feels like they figured it out.

The game is my personal favorite Bonk game to date, it’s pure excellence. Highlights are the level where Bonk is floating through the solar system (really a stroke of genius) and the final fight with king Drool, where the whole growing mechanism is cranked to the max.
