Stardust (2007)
directed by Matthew Vaughn
An adaption of the modern fairy tale by Neil Gaiman that is very faithfully to the original and yet captures most of the same spirit without becoming a lifeless carbon-copy. I think one reason why Stardust works so well is because the main characters are all well chosen and personify the characters from the novel so completely. Mind you, after watching it I didn’t felt like I’ve seen a big movie, but one of these TV-specials. This, I think, is due to completely reusing the story-structure from the novel, which gives the movie a feeling of watching a serial. Still, nice entertainment.
